1.  Physician license renewal reminder

As a reminder, all physicians who wish to remain licensed in Colorado must renew their licenses by May 31, 2011. Every Physician renewing their license in an Active status must complete the below, multi-stage process:

1.     Complete an updated Healthcare Professions Profile that can be accessed at www.dora.state.co.us/hppp.  Once on the page, click the button on the left labeled: Update a Healthcare Profession Profile.

2.     Complete the remainder of the renewal process at www.dora.state.co.us/registrations/Renewal/renewalDR_Information2011.   This includes completing an Affidavit of Eligibility, the Mandatory Renewal Questionnaire and Insurance Verification form and paying the required renewal fee.

Please remember that your renewal is not complete until both of the above steps are completed and the appropriate fee is paid. After the expiration date of May 31, 2011, there is a 60-day grace period.  If you do not renew before May 31st, you can complete the process and pay an additional $15.00 late fee.  Licensees will not be placed in a lapsed status until after the grace period ends on July 31st.

If you have any questions, the Healthcare Professions Profiling Program staff is available via email at hppp@dora.state.co.us or via phone at (303) 894-5942.

If you would like to have a manual renewal packet sent to you, please call (303) 894-2984.

Some Mac users with Safari and Firefox browsers have experienced problems accessing the online profiling and licensure databases.  If you experience any difficulties, contact DORA IT support at 303-894-2421 or regonline@dora.state.co.us.

2.  What to do to avoid Medicare eRx penalty in 2012

In order to avoid a 1 percent penalty in 2012 all eligible professionals must use the claims based reporting option and submit at least 10 claims between January 1, 2011 and June 30, 2011 indicating prescriptions for Medicare patients have been submitted electronically using a qualified eRx system.
